Darb is Abu Dhabi's smart toll system, launched in 2021 by the Integrated Transport Centre. Unlike Dubai's Salik (which uses tags), Darb uses license plate recognition — no physical device needed. Tolls apply only during peak hours.

Peak hours: Monday–Saturday 7:00–9:00 AM and 5:00–7:00 PM. Tariff: AED 4 per gate per direction. Free on Sundays and public holidays. Daily cap: AED 16 per vehicle.

Register your Darb account

  1. Visit itc.gov.ae or download the Darb app.
  2. Login with UAE PASS.
  3. Add your vehicle plate(s).
  4. Top up balance via credit card. Minimum recharge: AED 50.
  5. Enable auto-recharge to avoid fines.

Darb fines

  • Unregistered vehicle crossing: AED 100 + the toll.
  • Insufficient balance: AED 50 fine if not paid within 5 working days; rises to AED 200 thereafter.
  • Plate obstruction: AED 1,500 (additional MOI fine).

Visitors and rental cars are auto-charged via a 5-day grace window.
